What is an international payment?

A payment is classified as an international payment when a client pays in a currency different from your domestic currency. In BritePay, your domestic currency is determined by the country and currency you used when setting up BritePay.

Your international clients will see prices in their client portal based on your home currency, regardless of where they are based.

Example

For instance, if your country is set to the United States and your client is in Italy, the payment will display prices in USD, not EUR. The invoice will be settled to your account in USD (as if somebody locally was paying).

However, the client will be charged in EUR in their bank account based on the exchange rate at the time of payment. Additionally, their credit card provider may apply a foreign transaction or currency conversion fee, which is independent of BritePay. Some credit cards waive these fees, while others charge them. Clients can check with their card issuer or bank for more details.
